Experience the REVOLUTION

KEMET represents a multitude of perspectives, colors, and patterns. We want to bring diverse stories and voices to the forefront, creating a vibrant and dynamic cinematic universe. The kaleidoscope is the symbol for KEMET. It is the keystone of our vision for a more inclusive and creative film industry in Africa. It's the central piece that holds our mission together.

At its core, KEMET stands for kinship - a bond that connects us all. Our stories aim to explore and celebrate this shared experience.

Why KEMET?

When you want to make a film in Africa, you have two options: fund it out of pocket, provided your pocket is big enough to hold massive amounts of dinero, OR find someone who is ready to fund your vision. Which of course means less control over what you create and more focus on making a profit, rather than simply being creative and having fun telling stories. And isn't cinema supposed to be just that? Fun?

At the eve of Artificial Intelligence being either a destructive force in the industry for some, or evening the playing field for others, the smallest indie filmmaker will be able to take on the biggest Hollywood studio at the world stage as there will be a strong call for authentic storytelling. It will be a war of ideas, not of means. And the best ideas and most original concepts will be the ones that prevail.

Which is where KEMET comes in.

KEMET was thus born from a deep-seated need to fight the status quo, ride the wave of progress, and help disrupt an industry.

KEMET also stands for knowledge. Through our stories, we seek to educate, inspire, and provoke thought.”
